IT OT - Tools
Key Responsibilities
System Integration & Convergence: Architect, install, and maintain the software pipelines connecting physical plant assets to cloud-based or on-premise IT infrastructure (using tools like Node-RED, PRTG, Meddle, or MQTT brokers).Tool Ownership: Act as the ultimate administrator and champion for IT/OT hybrid platforms, handling updates, troubleshooting, licensing, and access management.Unified Monitoring: Implement and scale a \"single pane of glass\" system to monitor the operational health of both corporate IT assets and industrial OT protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP).Cybersecurity Hardening: Collaborate with security teams to isolate OT infrastructure via network segmenting, configure secure industrial firewalls, and deploy OT-specific endpoint detection.Process Automation & Incident Routing: Set up automatic triggers to turn machine failures into IT service desk tickets (e.g., using Freshservice or automation tools) to minimize plant downtime.Collaboration & Governance: Define clear RACI boundaries and documentation between plant technicians and IT administrators using industry frameworks
Skill Requirements
Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience working at the intersection of IT infrastructure and industrial manufacturing environment control systems.Protocol & Network Mastery: Solid understanding of both IT networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls) and OT fieldbus networks (Modbus, Profinet, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP).Software Competency: Practical experience using open-source tools (Node-RED, Grafana), unified monitoring platforms (PRTG Network Monitor, Nagios), or IIoT data hubs.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or equivalent practical field experience.
