Job Summary
IT/OT SME
Key Responsibilities
IT/OT Network Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain highly secure, resilient industrial networks utilizing the Purdue Model for Industrial Control Systems. Architect zone segmentation, industrial demilitarized zones (IDMZs), and secure remote access solutions.Industrial Cybersecurity & Hardening: Act as the final technical authority for OT security. Implement security frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82), deploy Industrial Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and manage zero-downtime, safe OT patch management strategies.Protocol & Systems Integration: Enable seamless communication and data extraction between operational hardware and IT systems (like ERP, MES, or Data Lakes) using protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Profinet, and EtherNet/IP.Edge & Compute Engineering: Architect and optimize compute infrastructure located on the plant floor, including ruggedized edge gateways, industrial virtualized clusters (VMware/Hyper-V), and local storage solutions.Incident Response & Resilience: Establish, document, and test specialized disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans tailored specifically to plant environments, minimizing the risk of physical operational downtime.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the strategic translator and technical liaison between corporate IT engineering teams and plant automation/controls engineers (PLC/SCADA programmers).
Skill Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of professional experience spanning enterprise IT infrastructure engineering and hands-on operational technology (OT) engineering within industrial environments.Network & Security Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of industrial switching/routing (e.g., Cisco Industrial Ethernet), firewall design, and deep packet inspection for OT protocols.Industrial System Knowledge: Strong familiarity with SCADA systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) from vendors such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or Honeywell.Standards & Compliance: In-depth working knowledge of global industrial security standards, specifically ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST.Operating Systems: Solid proficiency in configuring and hardening both Windows Server/Client environments and Enterprise Linux variants used in industrial computing applications.
