Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer - MEP Fit-out to supervise and coordinate mechanical, fire-protection and plumbing fit-out for a large-scale AI Data Center campus in Odisha. The role will focus on field execution of liquid-cooling distribution, HVAC, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing, drainage, water treatment and associated controls interfaces across data halls, mechanical rooms, electrical spaces, utility areas and support buildings.
The position will represent the Owner at site and work closely with the MEP Execution Lead, contractors, OEMs, the Owner's Engineer, QA/QC, electrical and CSA teams, and the commissioning team. The candidate must be technically strong, field-oriented and capable of driving safe, coordinated and schedule-aligned installation through testing, commissioning and phased handover.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Fit-out Supervision Supervise day-to-day mechanical, fire-protection and plumbing fit-out activities. Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, coordinated layouts, method statements and project procedures. Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, materials, productivity and workfront readiness. Identify access, sequencing and interface constraints and drive timely closure. Protect completed systems and maintain clean, commissioning-ready work areas. 2. AI Data Center Cooling Infrastructure Supervise installation of facility water systems, technology cooling systems, direct liquid cooling interfaces and coolant distribution units. Coordinate dry coolers, chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, tanks, filtration, dosing and water-treatment systems. Monitor headers, branch piping, valves, strainers, supports, insulation, vents, drains and instrumentation. Ensure piping cleanliness, pressure class, jointing methods and water-quality requirements meet approved specifications. Preserve maintainability, isolation provisions, equipment access and replacement routes. 3. HVAC and Ventilation Fit-out Supervise air-handling units, precision cooling equipment where applicable, ventilation fans, ductwork, dampers, grilles and controls. Coordinate environmental requirements for electrical rooms, battery rooms, network rooms and support spaces. Verify duct supports, access panels, insulation, fire and smoke dampers and testing provisions. Coordinate condensate drainage and prevent conflicts with electrical containment, piping and ceilings. 4. Fire Protection, Plumbing and Drainage Supervise fire pumps, hydrants, sprinklers, pre-action systems, test drains and associated piping. Coordinate clean-agent or gaseous-suppression mechanical interfaces in critical rooms. Support hydrostatic testing, flushing, pump testing, alarm-interface testing and statutory inspections. Supervise domestic water, make-up water, sanitary plumbing, drainage and equipment-drain systems. Ensure drainage and leak-containment arrangements protect critical electrical and IT areas. 5. Multidisciplinary Interface Coordination Coordinate mechanical works with CSA openings, embeds, supports, foundations, waterproofing and access routes. Coordinate power, controls, earthing and emergency-operation interfaces with electrical teams. Coordinate BMS, fire alarm, leak detection and equipment-control interfaces. Raise RFIs for clashes or incomplete information before execution is affected. Protect future expansion and maintenance provisions. 6. Contractor, OEM and Material Coordination Coordinate mechanical contractors, subcontractors and specialist vendors. Monitor approved materials, delivery, storage, preservation and release to workfronts. Coordinate OEM supervision for CDUs, pumps, heat exchangers, cooling equipment and fire pumps. Monitor productivity and escalate recurring performance gaps. Provide site inputs for progress measurement, quantity verification and change evaluation. 7. Safety and Installation Compliance Enforce permits, risk assessments, lifting plans and HSE procedures. Coordinate inspections with QA/QC and ensure prompt closure of defects and NCRs. Prevent concealment before required inspections and pressure tests. Ensure safe pressure testing, flushing, hot work, work at height and lifting activities. Maintain housekeeping and protection of completed systems. 8. Testing, Pre-commissioning and Handover Coordinate pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, passivation, water-quality checks and reinstatement. Support equipment alignment, start-up, balancing, controls checks and pre-functional inspections.
