Job Summary

The Workload Automation Administrator is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of automated batch processes. They ensure the stability and reliability of the scheduling environment and provide operational support for the entire batch schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support and Monitoring Provide production support for the batch scheduling environment, including monitoring job flows and resolving job failures. Monitor the alarm console and email notifications to respond to system alerts and job failures. Perform root cause analysis to fix regularly failing jobs and prevent future incidents. Escalate critical issues to management or higher-level support teams when Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are at risk. Job Creation and Maintenance Create, modify, and delete job definitions based on application team requirements. Design and implement complex job flows with dependencies and conditions. Manage and maintain calendars for job scheduling. Provide guidance to application teams on best practices for designing and scheduling jobs. System Administration and Configuration Install, configure, and upgrade the scheduling system on various operating systems (e.g., UNIX, Linux, Windows). Manage system backups, exports, and other maintenance tasks. Perform user ID and access management for the scheduling environment. Migration and Projects Assist with the migration of jobs between different versions of the software. Collaborate with application teams to test and validate job flows during and after migration. Develop and maintain documentation, including naming standards, test cases, and reports. Reporting and Analysis Generate and analyze reports on job performance, such as weekly job failure (ABEND) reports. Use reporting tools (e.g., JAWS or other scheduling tool utilities) to provide operational insights.

Skill Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications &Experience

10+ years of hands-on experience with either IBM TWS or Broadcom Autosys. Experience with both is a significant plus.

Proven experience in a production support or operations role, preferably in a 24x7 environment.

Technical Skills 

Proficiency in the command-line interface specific to the tool For TWS: Deep understanding of composer, conman, and other TWS commands. For Autosys Expertise in using Job Information Language (JIL). Strong shell scripting skills (e.g., UNIX, Windows Batch). Familiarity with database technologies and ability to write SQL queries. 

 

Soft Skills

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with client and application teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working within an ITIL framework for incident and change management.
