Job Summary
Mainframe OPC and JCL
• Managing and scheduling of resources
• Define, maintain and document a work schedule for running production system batch jobs, and possible started tasks
• Collect measurement data from both internal and external customers related to batch operations measurements.
• Administer and maintain an automated production scheduling system
• Resolve scheduling conflicts in the production schedule cycles
• Develop and maintain standards for job acceptance and implementation
• Schedule on-request batch jobs that require immediate execution
• Create/maintain calendars
• Identification of critical paths based on statistics of execution
• Identification of jobs eligible for parallel processing (on same CPU or multiple CPUs) and reorganization of normal batch schedules
Batch Monitoring and Restart
• Monitor scheduler related incidents, and develop and recommend changes to the scheduler database
• Execute on Demand or Adhoc request to Hold, Release, Skip, Cancel a job or schedule per defined account procedures
• Record and route incidents to appropriate support groups
• Execute Batch Check List activities
• Perform predefined incident recovery actions to resolve or escalate abnormal batch events
• Perform root cause analysis per defined procedures
• Provide support for batch environments with more than one job scheduling master

Skill Requirements
Perform any pre-batch activities Scheduling batch services (online services may be supported by Operations) Install and document system related batch jobs in the automated job scheduling package Participate in the Problem and Change Management process to ensure that availability objectives are met Manage the root cause analysis for scheduling problems Support of load balancing across servers when required and applicable Support of special batch schedules (e.g., for known peak periods) Suggestion and implementation of improvements
