JOB TITLE: Network Administrator\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nLOCATION: Offshore (India)\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nOVERVIEW OF THE ROLE\\\\r\\\\nAs a Network Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing an expansive on-premises Cisco network infrastructure spanning 30 campus sites and 250 satellite locations. This position is critical to ensuring robust, secure, and efficient network operations across the organization. You will focus on routing, switching, firewall administration, and firmware upgrades, contributing directly to the reliability and scalability of HCLTech’s client network environments. The role provides the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with diverse technical teams, directly impacting the organization’s operational effectiveness.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nDETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES\\\\r\\\\n Administer, support, and optimize Cisco network infrastructure across multiple campus and small office sites.\\\\r\\\\n Implement and manage routing, switching, and firewall changes, adhering to established change management processes with comprehensive validation and backout procedures.\\\\r\\\\n Plan, schedule, and execute firmware upgrades on network devices, including thorough testing, validation, and rollback strategies.\\\\r\\\\n Utilize SolarWinds for network monitoring, device onboarding, and configuration management, ensuring compliance and optimal network performance.\\\\r\\\\n Maintain accurate network documentation and technical notes, ensuring seamless communication and knowledge transfer within the team.\\\\r\\\\n Coordinate maintenance windows and network changes with relevant stakeholders to minimize business disruption.\\\\r\\\\n Work independently with task management tools (e.g., Asana) to track progress and deliverables.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nSKILL REQUIREMENTS\\\\r\\\\n Proven hands-on experience supporting Cisco networks in an enterprise, multi-site environment.\\\\r\\\\n Proficiency in SolarWinds (Network Configuration Manager and monitoring), including device onboarding and configuration/compliance features.\\\\r\\\\n Strong understanding of network fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, trunking, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and routing protocols.\\\\r\\\\n Demonstrated experience executing device firmware upgrades, including planning, validation, and rollback procedures.\\\\r\\\\n Ability to work independently, manage tasks effectively, and produce clear, detailed technical documentation.\\\\r\\\\n Strong communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\\\\r\\\\n Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.\\\\r\\\\n Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nOTHER REQUIREMENTS (OPTIONAL)\\\\r\\\\n Experience with broader network security practices and firewall platforms.\\\\r\\\\n Familiarity with remote work collaboration tools and geographically dispersed teams.\\\\r\\\\n Exposure to ITIL-based change management processes.\\\\r\\\\n Availability for meetings with overlap between 9:00am and 4:00pm ET (morning or evening overlap acceptable).\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\n As a Network Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing an expansive on-premises Cisco network infrastructure spanning 30 campus sites and 250 satellite locations. Key Responsibilities
Administer, support, and optimize Cisco network infrastructure across multiple campus and small office sites. Implement and manage routing, switching, and firewall changes, adhering to established change management processes with comprehensive validation and backout procedures. Plan, schedule, and execute firmware upgrades on network devices, including thorough testing, validation, and rollback strategies. Utilize SolarWinds for network monitoring, device onboarding, and configuration management, ensuring compliance and optimal network performance. Skill Requirements
Proven hands-on experience supporting Cisco networks in an enterprise, multi-site environment. Proficiency in SolarWinds (Network Configuration Manager and monitoring), including device onboarding and configuration/compliance features. Strong understanding of network fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, trunking, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and routing protocols. Demonstrated experience executing device firmware upgrades, including planning, validation, and rollback procedures. Ability to work independently, manage tasks effectively, and produce clear, detailed technical documentation. Strong communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.
