Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of our PostgreSQL environments — from installation and performance tuning to high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud migration. You will work closely with application teams and contribute to building a scalable, reliable, and secure data platform.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Configuration & Maintenance\r\n▸ Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including patching, version upgrades, and environment optimization.\r\n▸ Configure and administer PostgreSQL for high performance, availability, and security.\r\n▸ Monitor database health, capacity, and growth trends while proactively troubleshooting and resolving incidents.\r\nHigh Availability & Disaster Recovery\r\n▸ Implement and manage HA/DR solutions using tools such as Patroni, etcd, and PgBouncer, ensuring robust replication and recovery capabilities.\r\n▸ Design and implement backup & recovery strategies using pg_basebackup, WAL backup, pgBackRest, and Barman.\r\n▸ Manage backup and recovery processes, ensuring compliance with defined RTO/RPO metrics.\r\nPerformance Tuning & Optimization\r\n▸ Develop and execute performance tuning strategies including query optimization, indexing, and database configuration adjustments.\r\n▸ Troubleshoot production issues including locks, deadlocks, replication lag, and table bloat.\r\nDatabase Migration\r\n▸ Lead database migrations from Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.\r\n▸ Manage on-premises to cloud migrations, including planning, execution, and validation.\r\n▸ Collaborate with application teams to rewrite and optimize PL/SQL code into PostgreSQL-compatible PL/pgSQL functions and procedures.\r\nAutomation & Documentation\r\n▸ Automate routine DBA tasks using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.\r\n▸ Prepare and maintain documentation for migration strategies, configuration standards, and operational procedures.\r\n

Skill Requirements

Required Skills & Tools\r\n▸ PostgreSQL — advanced administration, configuration, and tuning\r\n▸ HA/DR — Patroni, etcd, PgBouncer, streaming replication\r\n▸ Backup & Recovery — pg_basebackup, WAL archiving, pgBackRest, Barman\r\n▸ Migration — Oracle-to-PostgreSQL, MySQL-to-PostgreSQL, on-prem-to-cloud\r\n▸ PL/pgSQL — stored procedures, functions, triggers\r\n▸ Automation — Shell scripting, Python, Ansible\r\n▸ Monitoring — database health, capacity planning, incident response\r\n▸ Cloud Platforms — AWS / Azure / GCP (PostgreSQL managed services a plus)\r\n
