Track Lead - Program & Project Management
Others, Ontario

Job Summary

The IT Project Manager leads the planning, execution, and delivery of technology initiatives supporting Inova’s clinical, patient-facing, and enterprise systems. This role coordinates across business stakeholders, clinical informatics, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors to keep projects on scope, on schedule, and on budget — while ensuring every deliverable meets the compliance, privacy, and quality standards required in a regulated healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders. • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, staffing, and resource allocation strategies; track progress against milestones and report variances early. • Lead cross-functional teams (developers, infrastructure, QA, business analysts, clinical informatics) through all phases of the project lifecycle. • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues — including patient-safety and data-privacy risk — escalating to leadership as needed. • Manage project budgets, ensuring cost control, accurate forecasting, and transparent variance reporting. • Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers (e.g., Epic, AWS/Amazon Connect, telephony and EHR partners) on deliverables, SLAs, and go-live timelines. • Facilitate regular status meetings, prepare progress reports, and communicate updates to stakeholders and executive sponsors. • Ensure projects adhere to internal governance, HIPAA and regulatory compliance, and IT quality standards. • Manage change control processes, including scope changes and their impact on timeline, budget, and clinical workflow. • Conduct post-project reviews (including post-go-live stabilization) and document lessons learned to improve future delivery.

Skill Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience managing IT projects, preferably within a healthcare system, hospital, or other regulated enterprise environment. • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Hybrid). • PMP, PRINCE2, or CSM certification preferred. • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet). • Solid understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, networking, and software development processes. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for clinical and non-technical stakeholders. • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. • Experience with budget management and vendor/contract negotiation.

Other Requirements

Experience in healthcare IT, hospital operations, or another HIPAA-regulated environment. • Direct experience with Epic (implementation, upgrades, or optimization) and patient-facing portals such as MyChart. • Experience with contact center / patient access platforms (e.g., Amazon Connect) and workforce management/reporting tools. • Familiarity with the ITIL framework and IT service management practices. • Experience managing cloud migration, ERP implementation, or infrastructure upgrade projects.
