Track Lead - Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Cluster
Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Compute – Linux/Unix L3 Engineer with at least 10 years of hands-on experience designing, engineering, administering, and supporting large-scale Linux/Unix infrastructure across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments. The engineer will serve as the highest level of technical escalation for complex Linux/Unix incidents and problems. The role includes platform engineering, performance optimization, operating system lifecycle management, security hardening, automation, capacity planning, major incident support, root cause analysis, and technical governance. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu, IBM AIX, and/or Oracle Solaris, depending on the platform landscape. Strong experience with Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, VMware, Microsoft Azure, AWS, clustering, high availability, and enterprise infrastructure operations is required. The role will work closely with infrastructure architects, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, application, database, network, storage, backup, and service management teams to ensure that Linux/Unix platforms remain secure, scalable, resilient, and operationally efficient.

Key Responsibilities

Linux/Unix Platform Engineering Design, engineer, implement, and support enterprise Linux/Unix platforms across physical, virtual, private-cloud, and public-cloud environments. Define standard operating system builds, configurations, security baselines, and engineering patterns. Perform complex server provisioning, configuration, migration, upgrade, consolidation, and decommissioning activities. Evaluate platform requirements and recommend appropriate operating system, compute, storage, availability, and connectivity configurations. Provide engineering support for new applications, infrastructure transformations, and platform modernization initiatives. 2. Advanced Linux/Unix Administration Provide expert-level administration of Linux distributions such as RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, and SLES. Support Unix platforms such as IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris, where applicable. Administer and troubleshoot kernel parameters, system services, boot processes, package repositories, authentication, SSH, sudo, cron, logging, and operating system configurations. Resolve complex issues involving kernel behavior, processes, memory, CPU, storage, filesystem, network services, and package dependencies. Review and optimize operating system configurations based on workload and application requirements. 3. L3 Technical Escalation Act as the final internal technical escalation point for complex Linux/Unix incidents that cannot be resolved by L1 or L2 support teams. Lead troubleshooting across operating system, virtualization, storage, network, database, cloud, and application layers. Analyze system logs, crash dumps, diagnostic outputs, performance data, and platform configurations to identify technical causes. Engage operating system, cloud, hardware, and software vendors when product-level investigation is required. Develop recovery and workaround plans for critical production issues. 4. Major Incident Management Provide senior technical leadership during Priority 1, Priority 2, and major infrastructure incidents. Lead technical investigation calls and coordinate troubleshooting across multiple infrastructure and application teams. Establish technical recovery priorities and recommend safe restoration actions. Provide clear technical updates to incident managers, service delivery teams, and relevant stakeholders. Conduct post-incident technical reviews and ensure that required corrective actions are documented and implemented. 5. Problem Management & Root Cause Analysis Lead detailed Root Cause Analysis for recurring, critical, and high-impact Linux/Unix incidents. Correlate operating system events, monitoring data, performance trends, changes, and application behavior to determine the root cause. Define permanent corrective and preventive actions with clear ownership and validation criteria. Identify systemic platform weaknesses and recommend engineering solutions. Review problem records and verify that technical actions address the underlying issue rather than only the symptoms. 6. Performance Engineering & Capacity Management Perform advanced analysis of CPU, memory, swap, processes, load, disk I/O, filesystem, storage latency, and network performance. Use tools such as sar, iostat, vmstat, pidstat, perf, strace, tcpdump, ss, lsof, dmesg, journalctl, and other platform-specific diagnostic utilities. Analyze application and infrastructure performance at the operating-system level. Tune kernel parameters, resource limits, filesystems, network settings, and operating system configurations where appropriate. Establish capacity thresholds and provide recommendations for scaling, consolidation, or resource optimization. Support proactive forecasting by analyzing utilization and growth trends. 7. Storage & Filesystem Engineering Engineer and support Linux/Unix storage configurations involving LVM, multipathing, NFS, SAN, NAS, filesystems, mount points, and swap. Resolve complex filesystem corruption, storage latency, path failure, volume, and I/O-relate
