Job Summary

Job Title OpenShift Virtualization Engineer OpenShift Platform Engineer – Virtualization Location Chennai Noida Experience 6–12+ years overall IT experience 3–5+ years in Virtualization & Container Platforms Job Summary We are looking for an experienced OpenShift Virtualization Engineer to design, deploy, migrate, and operate virtual machine workloads on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization. The role focuses on modernizing traditional virtualization platforms by running VMs and containers side‑by‑side on OpenShift, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities OpenShift Virtualization Platform Deploy, configure, and manage OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) on OpenShift 4.x. Manage lifecycle of VirtualMachines, VM templates, DataVolumes, and CDI. Operate mixed workloads (VMs + containers) on the same OpenShift cluster. Perform OpenShift Cluster upgrade upgrades, patching, and capacity planning. Virtual Machine Management Create, manage, and optimize Linux and Windows VMs on OpenShift. Configure VM networking, storage, CPU, memory, and performance tuning. Manage VM live migration, snapshots, cloning, and backup/restore. Troubleshoot VM startup, performance, and guest OS issues. Migration & Modernization Lead VMware Hyper‑V RHV to OpenShift Virtualization migrations. Use MTV (Migration Toolkit for Virtualization) for bulk and live migrations. Assess legacy workloads and recommend modernization strategies. Coordinate cutover, validation, and rollback plans. Storage & Networking Integrate OpenShift Virtualization with enterprise storage: ODF Ceph SAN NAS Cloud‑native storage Configure NMState, Multus, SR‑IOV, and advanced VM networking when required. Optimize I/O, latency, and throughput for VM workloads. Security & Access Control Implement RBAC, SCCs, and namespace isolation for VM workloads. Secure VM images, secrets, and credentials. Integrate with enterprise identity systems (LDAP Active Directory). Automation & Operations Automate VM provisioning using Ansible, GitOps, and templates. Monitor VM and cluster health using Prometheus and Grafana. Develop runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation. Provide L2/L3 support and perform root cause analysis. VMware Administration Manage and administer VMware vSphere environments including ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, Storage vMotion, DRS, HA, and Distributed Switches. Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of VMware infrastructure. Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex virtualization issues. Manage VMware clusters, templates, snapshots, VM provisioning, and resource optimization. Implement and maintain VMware security best practices. Collaboration Work closely with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams. Guide application owners on VM placement and modernization options. Act as SME for OpenShift Virtualization adoption.
