Job Summary
ROLE SUMMARY Owns the design and automation of Linux patching across the SG estate. Anchors Red Hat Satellite operations, defines patch lifecycle for managed and non-managed instances, and drives Phase 2 automation gains for the largest patching surface. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ■ Own the design of Linux patch lifecycle across managed (Satellite) and non-managed instances. ■ Maintain and extend Red Hat Satellite content views, lifecycle environments and host collections. ■ Define automation patterns for non-managed Linux instances currently driven by application CI/CD. ■ Coordinate with the Operations Lead on Tier-1 / Tier-2 SLA attainment for Linux scope. ■ Drive the Phase 2 automation roadmap for the OS domain. ■ Mentor patching engineers; review runbooks; arbitrate non-standard cases. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS ■ Deep Red Hat Satellite expertise: content management, capsule architecture, errata management. ■ Strong RHEL administration across major versions (7, 8, 9). ■ Configuration management with Ansible, Puppet, or equivalent. ■ Automation patterns: kickstart, image bakery, immutable infrastructure principles. PREFERRED / NICE TO HAVE ■ Red Hat Certified Engineer / Architect. ■ Experience with OpenShift, OpenSCAP, and STIG / CIS hardening. ■ Python scripting for orchestration. EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS ■ 10+ years operating enterprise Linux at scale. ■ Certifications: RHCE minimum; RHCA preferred. SOFT SKILLS ■ Mentoring mindset. ■ Comfortable defending design choices. ■ Strong written technical communication.
