Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Subject Matter Expert (SME) Job Summary The Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for designing, implementing, transitioning, administering, and optimizing enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions. The role provides technical leadership for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Azure Virtual Desktop, and related virtualization technologies while ensuring high availability, security, performance, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead transition and transformation activities for Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) services from project to operations. Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Azure Virtual Desktop environments. Provide L3/L4 technical support for complex virtualization incidents and problem management. Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and health assessments to ensure optimal user experience. Implement and manage Citrix Cloud, Citrix DaaS, Azure Virtual Desktop, FSLogix Profiles, Azure Files, and Microsoft Entra ID integration. Configure and manage Citrix Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, NetScaler ADC (Citrix ADC), Director, License Server, and Workspace. Manage Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, application groups, workspaces, session hosts, scaling plans, and image management. Create and maintain golden images using Azure Image Builder, Packer, or similar automation tools. Implement profile management using FSLogix and Citrix Profile Management. Perform patch management, upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery testing. Develop automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM/Bicep, or Terraform. Collaborate with cloud, network, security, storage, and endpoint teams to deliver integrated solutions. Participate in architecture reviews and provide recommendations for modernization and optimization. Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, KB articles, and transition documentation. Support security compliance, vulnerability remediation, and audit requirements. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project and operations teams.
