Job Summary
The Waterfall Project Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of projects executed using the Waterfall SDLC model, ensuring strict adherence to scope, schedule, cost, and quality baselines. The role demands strong planning, governance, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on predictable delivery and compliance to defined phase gates.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Initiation • Define and baseline project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria upfront. • Develop and maintain comprehensive Project Management Plans including schedule, cost, risk, quality, and communication plans. • Establish phase‑wise entry and exit criteria aligned with Waterfall SDLC standards. Requirements & Design Management • Coordinate requirements gathering, analysis, and sign‑off with business and technical stakeholders. • Ensure preparation, review, and approval of key documents: ○ Functional Specifications (FS) ○ High‑Level Design (HLD) ○ Low‑Level Design (LLD) ○ Test Plans and Test Cases ○ Manage change control rigorously, ensuring no scope creep without formal approval.Execution & Delivery Control • Drive project execution through sequential Waterfall phases:Requirements → Design → Build → Test → UAT → Deployment • Track progress against baseline plans and manage dependencies across teams. • Ensure timely completion of coding, unit testing, SIT, and UAT activities.Risk, Issue & Dependency Management • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively. • Manage issues and escalations through formal governance mechanisms. • Maintain RAID logs and drive closure with accountable owners.Stakeholder & Communication Management • Provide structured, periodic status reports (schedule, cost, risks, milestones). • Lead Steering Committee and governance reviews. • Act as a single point of accountability for client and senior leadership communication.Quality & Compliance • Ensure compliance with organizational SDLC standards, audit requirements, and documentation norms. • Enforce phase‑gate reviews and sign‑offs before progression to subsequent stages. • Ensure deliverables meet contractual, regulatory, and quality expectations.Financial & Resource Management • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and actuals. • Control resource allocation and utilization aligned to the project plan.Ensure adherence to contractual commercials and margin targets.
