Track Manager - IBM DB2 for z/OS

Job Summary

The DB2 & PostgreSQL DBA – L3 (Operations Lead) is a senior technical and people leadership role responsible for managing enterprise-scale database environments. The role combines deep hands-on expertise in DB2 (LUW) and PostgreSQL with operational leadership, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and SLA adherence across production and non-production systems. The incumbent acts as the final escalation point, drives automation and best practices, and leads a team of DBAs in hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration Manage, configure, and optimize DB2 (LUW) and PostgreSQL databases. Implement and oversee HA/DR, backup, recovery, replication, and clustering strategies. Perform performance tuning, SQL/query optimization, and capacity planning. Enforce security, audit, and compliance standards across database platforms. Operations Leadership Lead daily database operations to meet SLAs, KPIs, and uptime commitments. Define and enforce SOPs, operational best practices, and monitoring frameworks. Drive automation initiatives for deployment, patching, upgrades, and maintenance. Team Management Lead, mentor, and supervise DBA and support teams. Allocate workloads, track delivery, and conduct performance reviews. Promote collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement. Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with application teams, architects, and business leaders on scalable designs. Provide technical leadership for migrations, upgrades, and cloud adoption. Act as primary escalation for critical production incidents and RCA reviews.

Skill Requirements

Mandatory Technical Skills 8+ years of enterprise DBA experience with DB2 (LUW) and PostgreSQL. Strong SQL skills, PL/pgSQL, DB2 stored procedures, triggers, and indexing. Hands-on experience with HA/DR (HADR, Patroni, replication, clustering). Experience supporting large-scale production environments. Cloud & Platforms Exposure to AWS RDS, Azure Database, or GCP Cloud SQL. Experience in hybrid cloud and on-prem database architectures.

Other Requirements

Leadership & Operations Proven people leadership experience managing DBA or L2/L3 support teams. Strong incident management, RCA, and problem-resolution capabilities. Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred / Nice to Have Automation using Ansible, shell scripting, CI/CD pipelines. Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, IBM Data Server Manager. ITIL or equivalent service management certification
