Overview of the Role The IBM MQ on z/OS Administrator is critical to ensuring the seamless operation, security, and performance of messaging systems within HCLTech’s enterprise environments. This role demands deep technical expertise in IBM MQ on z/OS, supporting key business processes that underpin client success and operational efficiency. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, contributing directly to HCLTech’s reputation for reliability and excellence in technology delivery. Detailed Responsibilities Configure, administer, and maintain IBM MQ on z/OS environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Install, patch, and upgrade IBM MQ on z/OS, including problem determination and resolution. Manage SSL within the MQ environment to ensure secure data transfer and communication. Facilitate data transfer to and from host systems, ensuring integrity and efficiency. Configure security settings, define Queue Sharing Groups, and manage access controls. Gather, analyze, and report statistics and accounting data for performance tuning. Troubleshoot and optimize Message Queue applications for enhanced performance. Collaborate with vendors for problem/incident determination and resolution. Provide 24x7 on-call support, including out-of-hours change management as required. Utilize tools such as Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and Jira for monitoring, incident management, and project tracking. Skill Requirements Proven expertise in IBM MQ administration on z/OS platforms. Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting IBM MQ on z/OS. Strong knowledge of SSL implementation and management in MQ environments. Familiarity with data transfer protocols and host system integration. Experience configuring security and Queue Sharing Groups in MQ. Proficient in gathering and analyzing performance statistics and tuning MQ applications. Working knowledge of Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and Jira for monitoring and incident management. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications in IBM MQ or z/OS administration (preferred). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Other Requirements (Optional) Experience working in multinational or enterprise environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with ITIL or similar service management frameworks. Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee IBM MQ and IIB (ACE) middleware operations to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance, aligning with enterprise SLAs and client expectations.
2. Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex middleware issues using IBM MQ, IIB (ACE), and RabbitMQ toolsets, ensuring minimal business disruption.
3. Implement and optimize monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions for message flows and queues using middleware administration tools to enhance operational visibility and proactive issue identification.
4. Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to support teams on middleware configuration, deployment, and integration best practices using IBM MQ, IIB (ACE), and RabbitMQ.
5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational metrics, innovating process enhancements, and adopting automation for middleware administration and support tasks.
6. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into effective middleware solutions using advanced message-oriented middleware strategies.
7. Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards in all middleware operations by leveraging advanced features of IBM MQ and IIB (ACE).
