Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced L3 InterSystems IRIS/Ensemble DBA to provide advanced administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational support for mission-critical healthcare and enterprise integration platforms running on InterSystems IRIS, Ensemble, and Caché environments. The role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance optimization, disaster recovery readiness, and proactive management of the database and integration infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration Administer and support InterSystems IRIS, Ensemble, and Caché environments. Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities. Manage database creation, sizing, growth planning, and storage optimization. Monitor database health, availability, and performance using native and enterprise monitoring tools. Perform routine maintenance, integrity checks, and database cleanup activities. Performance & Capacity Management Analyze and resolve database performance issues. Conduct SQL/query tuning and optimize database efficiency. Monitor system resource utilization and recommend capacity enhancements. Identify bottlenecks affecting application and interoperability performance. Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies. Execute restore testing and disaster recovery drills. Ensure business continuity through HA/DR configurations such as mirroring and failover solutions. Validate backup integrity and recovery objectives (RPO/RTO). Production Support & Incident Management Provide L3 support for critical production incidents and problem management. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures. Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams for resolution of complex issues. Support major incident calls and outage recovery activities. Interoperability & Integration Support Support Ensemble/IRIS interoperability productions, interfaces, and messaging components. Troubleshoot HL7, FHIR, SOAP, REST, TCP/IP, and integration-related issues. Assist development teams during deployments and releases. Validate interoperability performance and message throughput. Security & Compliance Implement database security standards and access controls. Manage user roles, authentication, and auditing requirements. Ensure compliance with organizational.
Skill Requirements
Strong hands-on experience with InterSystems IRIS, Ensemble, and/or Caché Administration. Expertise in database backup, recovery, mirroring, and high-availability configurations. Experience with Linux and/or Windows server administration. Strong understanding of database architecture, globals, namespaces, routines, and interoperability framework. Experience troubleshooting production performance issues. Knowledge of SQL optimization and database monitoring tools. Experience with scripting/automation (Shell, PowerShell, Python preferred). Understanding of ITIL processes, incident, problem, and change management.
Other Requirements
Healthcare domain experience supporting EMR/EHR applications. Experience with HL7, FHIR, HealthShare, or healthcare integrations. Exposure to cloud-hosted IRIS environments (Azure/AWS). Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or equivalent. InterSystems IRIS/Ensemble certifications preferred.
