Track Manager - Mainframe Automation Tools

Job Summary

This role drives operational excellence in mainframe and message automation environments, ensuring robust service delivery for complex or large-scale projects. The individual is responsible for continuous process improvement, advanced problem-solving, and fostering a culture of innovation to meet stringent client SLAs. They play a key part in empowering teams, optimizing automation workflows, and aligning operational practices with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead mainframe automation initiatives using IBM z/OS, JCL, and automation tools to streamline batch processing, improve system reliability, and reduce manual intervention.
2. Implement and optimize message automation solutions with IBM MQ, CA7, or equivalent technologies, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient message delivery across enterprise systems.
3. Direct operational support for large-scale mainframe environments, utilizing monitoring tools such as BMC Control-M or IBM System Automation to proactively identify and resolve complex performance and availability issues.
4. Drive process improvements in incident, change, and problem management by analyzing operational data from mainframe and messaging platforms, recommending automation opportunities, and establishing best practices.
5. Engage with clients to translate business requirements into technical automation solutions, ensuring all deliverables meet or exceed agreed SLAs and compliance standards.
6. Mentor and guide operations teams in mainframe and message automation best practices, fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
7. Provide expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical incidents using advanced diagnostic tools and scripting (REXX, CLIST), ensuring minimal business disruption.
8. Evaluate, select, and implement new automation tools and frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and support organizational growth objectives.

Skill Requirements

1. Advanced Knowledge Of Message Automation Tools Such As Ibm Mq, Ca7, Or Similar Platforms.
2. Excellent Skills In Mainframe Operations Management, Performance Tuning, And Incident Response.
3. Strong Command Of Scripting Languages Relevant To Mainframe Automation (E.G., Rexx, Clist).
4. InDepth Experience With Enterprise Monitoring And Automation Tools (E.G., Bmc ControlM, Ibm System Automation).
5. Advanced ProblemSolving And Analytical Abilities To Address Complex Operational Challenges.
6. Excellent Leadership And Mentoring Capabilities, With The Ability To Guide HighPerforming Technical Teams.
7. Strong Client Engagement And Communication Skills, With A Focus On Translating Business Needs Into Technical Solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
