Role Summary The Tools – Event Management L3 role is accountable for advanced administration, engineering and governance of enterprise event monitoring, observability, log/event correlation, alert suppression and ITSM integration capabilities. The role acts as the SME for event management tools and processes, owning complex troubleshooting, tool configuration standards, integration design, alert quality improvement, event-to-incident lifecycle governance, RCA inputs, automation enablement and continuous service improvement. The role is designed for Burlington-style managed network services where event management is a key control for proactive incident detection, event correlation, incident prevention and reliable operational visibility. 2. Role Purpose & Business Outcomes • Ensure monitoring and event management platforms provide actionable, reliable, low-noise alerts for network and infrastructure operations. • Drive proactive detection and correlation so incidents are identified before or at the earliest point of user/business impact. • Act as L3 SME for observability and event management tool administration, integrations, patterns, governance and lifecycle management. • Mentor L1/L2 monitoring/NOC teams and improve shift-left playbooks, threshold standards and event handling procedures. • Provide technical leadership for event data quality, tool health, reporting accuracy, audit-readiness and continuous service improvement. 3. Key Roles & Responsibilities • Event Management Governance: Own enterprise event management standards, event taxonomy, priority/severity mapping, event-to-incident policies, suppression rules and actionable alert criteria. • Advanced Tool Administration: Administer and troubleshoot event monitoring, observability and log management tools including configuration, user roles, integrations, agents, probes, dashboards, collectors and management infrastructure. • Event Correlation & Noise Reduction: Design, tune and validate correlation logic, deduplication, suppression, maintenance window logic, dependency rules and false-positive reduction strategies. • Monitoring Coverage & Quality: Conduct periodic monitoring coverage audits, identify blind spots, onboard missing devices/services, validate metric collection, and remediate gaps in CI/service visibility. • ITSM / Workflow Integration: Own integration patterns between monitoring platforms and ITSM tools for event-generated incident creation, updates, enrichment, closure, assignment and routing governance. • AIOps & Predictive Monitoring: Define and improve anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, event clustering, auto-ticketing, auto-remediation triggers and closed-loop feedback models. • Complex Incident Support: Support major incidents and escalated issues by providing event timelines, correlated alerts, infrastructure telemetry, probable cause signals and tool-level evidence.
