Citrix Virtual Apps (XenApp) – L3 Engineer
Role Summary\\\\r\\\\nThe Citrix Virtual Apps L3 Engineer is responsible for end to end ownership, engineering support, and optimization of the Citrix Virtual Apps platform. This role provides expert level troubleshooting, leads root cause analysis, drives platform stability and improvements, and supports design, upgrades, and strategic enhancements, while mentoring L1/L2 teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide L3 / SME support for complex and escalated Citrix Virtual Apps (7.x) issues.\\\\r\\\\n• Perform deep troubleshooting for performance bottlenecks, scalability, and stability issues.\\\\r\\\\n• Own root cause analysis (RCA) and permanent corrective actions.\\\\r\\\\n• Architect, implement, and optimize Citrix Virtual Apps environments.\\\\r\\\\n• Lead platform upgrades, migrations, and major changes.\\\\r\\\\n• Design and maintain high availability, DR, and resilience for Citrix services.\\\\r\\\\n• Manage and optimize: \\\\r\\\\no Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, Director\\\\r\\\\no VDAs, Golden Images, Profile solutions\\\\r\\\\no Citrix Licensing and integrations\\\\r\\\\n• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell.\\\\r\\\\n• Engage with Citrix Support and third party vendors for critical issues.\\\\r\\\\n• Define standards, SOPs, build guides, and best practices.\\\\r\\\\n• Mentor L2/L1 teams and drive continuous service improvement
Skill Requirements
Technical Skills\\\\r\\\\nMandatory\\\\r\\\\n• Expert knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps (XenApp 7.x) architecture.\\\\r\\\\n• Strong experience with Windows Server OS, AD, DNS, and GPOs.\\\\r\\\\n• Advanced troubleshooting of: \\\\r\\\\no Logon performance\\\\r\\\\no Application publishing\\\\r\\\\no Session reliability\\\\r\\\\no Profile management (FSLogix / Citrix UPM)\\\\r\\\\n• Citrix Director, Studio, StoreFront, Licensing.\\\\r\\\\n• Strong PowerShell scripting skills.\\\\r\\\\nGood to Have\\\\r\\\\n• Citrix Virtual Desktops (VDI) design and support.\\\\r\\\\n• Citrix ADC / NetScaler (load balancing, ICA policies).\\\\r\\\\n• Cloud Citrix deployments (Azure / AWS).\\\\r\\\\n• Monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., ControlUp, eG Innovations).\\\\r\\\\n• Citrix certifications (CCP V / CCE V).\\\\r\\\\n________________________________________\\\\r\\\\nExperience & Competencies\\\\r\\\\n• 6–10+ years in Citrix engineering/support roles.\\\\r\\\\n• ITIL expertise (Incident, Problem, Change Management).\\\\r\\\\n• Strong architectural thinking and ownership mindset.\\\\r\\\\n• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\\\\r\\\\n• Experience supporting business critical, large scale environments.
