Job Summary

L2 LAN Network Engineer - Cisco & Aruba Campus Networks

Role Summary

Job Summary : Network Operations

The L2 LAN Network Engineer is responsible for operational support, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise LAN infrastructure across Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus, Aruba CX, and HPE Comware environments. The role focuses on incident resolution, service requests, standard changes, and maintaining network availability in a 24x7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

LAN Operations Support

  • Support enterprise LAN infrastructure across global locations.
  • Monitor network health and availability.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 connectivity issues.
  • Support VLAN, trunking, port configuration, and connectivity requests.
  • Execute standard network provisioning requests.

Switching Support

  • Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series
  • Cisco Nexus Platforms
  • Aruba CX Switches
  • HPE Comware Switching

Routing & Switching

  • Support OSPF, EIGRP, BGP environments.
  • Troubleshoot STP-related issues.
  • Support HSRP and VRRP operations.
  • Perform route verification and connectivity validation.

 

Incident & Request Management

  • Resolve L2 incidents within SLA.
  • Support L1 team whenever necessary and work closely with the L1 team.
  • Support service request fulfillment.
  • Escalate complex issues to L3 teams.
  • Update incident and change records in ServiceNow.

Change Management

  • Implement approved network changes.
  • Execute maintenance activities.
  • Validate successful implementations.
  • Perform rollback activities if required.

  • Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC)
  • SolarWinds
  • Splunk
  • ThousandEyes
  • ServiceNow
  • iObserve

Documentation

  • Update network diagrams.
  • Maintain CMDB records.
  • Create implementation and troubleshooting reports.

Skill Requirements

Required Skills

  • Cisco Catalyst Switching
  • Cisco Nexus Switching
  • Aruba CX Switching
  • VLANs, STP, EtherChannel
  • OSPF, EIGRP
  • HSRP, VRRP
  • Basic QoS knowledge
  • ServiceNow

Experience

  • 3-5 years of LAN Operations experience.
  • Experience in enterprise campus networks.
  • Experience supporting 24x7 operations.

Preferred Certifications

  • CCNA Enterprise
  • Aruba Certified Associate
  • ITIL Foundation
